Free Branson Event: 61st Annual Adoration Parade

This Sunday, December 6th, will feature the 61st Annual Adoration Parade in downtown Branson.

Free Branson Events: Don't Stop Believing...In Free Concerts at the Branson Landing

Once again the Branson Landing has put together a pretty impressive lineup of free performances for their Summer Concert Series. Of special interest to any fellow Journey fans out there (and let's face it, who isn't a Journey fan) is the upcoming performance of Chain Reaction, a Journey tribute band. Here is the schedule:

Free Branson Events: Honor America

For the 20th year, the College of the Ozarks will host its Honor America event on campus. This year it will take place on Sunday, June 28.

The festivities begin at 4:30 with a picnic (you can bring your own basket or purchase food there). The entertainment begins at 5:00 with performances by the Southwynn Bluegrass Band, 50's at the Hop, and the Cajun Connection. The evening concludes with a fireworks show accompanied by the Springfield Symphony.

This event is a great, free opportunity to enjoy some good entertainment while joining others in celebrating our great nation. Thanks to the College of the Ozarks for continuing this tradition and to this years co-sponsors: KOMC/KRZK.

Free Branson Events: Celebrate the Dam's 50th Birthday

The Table Rock Dam is turning 50 this year and it invites you all to join it in celebration, no presents (or admission fee) required. The celebration will take place Saturday, June 14 starting at 2:15 PM. The first performers will be the Springfield National Guard Band then following a ceremony with dignitaries at the time the dam's power facility was first turned on (2:45) the party will move to the Dewey Short Visitors Center for a film and music by the Missouri Boatride Bluegrass Band.

Free Branson Events: NBC Reality Show Taping

Want a chance to get your fifteen seconds of camera time on national television? Well, on Saturday, May 23rd you can attend a taping of an unnamed new NBC reality series at the Welk Resort Theater. Admission is free and the doors open at 2:30 PM with the show beginning at 3:30 PM. Performers will include Reno Collier (of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour).

Free Branson Events: Harold Bell Wright Festival

Harold Bell Wright, the first American author to sell over one-million copies of a book, is largely responsible for bringing Branson and the Ozarks to the national spotlight with the publication of his best-selling book The Shepherd of the Hills. Those hills have changed dramatically since Mr. Wright visited them, but his legacy remains prominent. That legacy will be honored this year with the Harold Bell Wright Festival and Parade on May 22-23.

This event will be located on Downing Street in Hollister and will feature a range of artisans, live music, and contests. The parade will begin on May 23 at 11:00 AM and will feature the Sons of the Pioneers. This is a great way to have some free fun while celebrating a key figure in the history of the Ozarks.

Free Branson Events: 36th Annual Plumb Nellie Festival

This weekend (May 15-17) the 36th Annual Plumb Nellie Days Arts and Crafts Festival will fill Historic Downtown Branson with traditional arts & crafts, live music, and entertainment. In addition to the juried arts & crafts contests, there will even be an Outrageous Dog Show on Saturday. If you want to enter your pooch in the contests you will have to pay the $5 entry fee but there is no cost to walk around and enjoy all the other festivities. This upcoming weekend in Branson is an especially great one for folks who are thrifty and/or really enjoy traditional Ozarks activities. Without spending a dime for admission, you can go enjoy both this event and the Bob Walsh Memorial Fiddle Festival. Hopefully you get a chance to enjoy these two great, free events.

Free Branson Events: Bob Walsh Memorial Fiddle Convention

Author's Note: This is the start of another periodic feature on the blog. This series will feature two different types of posts: Free Branson Events for free, date-specific happenings and Free Branson Activities to highlight free fun that is always available. As always, any comments or suggestions are welcome.

The annual Bob Walsh Memorial Fiddle Festival will start this Thursday (May 14) and run through this Sunday (May 17) at the Compton Ridge Campground. There is no charge to come and listen to over 100 fiddlers, but you will have to pay if you choose to partake in the fish fry or pig roast.
