Branson Hotels for Under $75: Good Center at CotO

Author's Note: This is another new feature for the blog designed to highlight the many quality lodging options Branson offers at very reasonable prices. To be featured hotels must have regularly available rooms for under $75 a night, but may also have suites available for higher prices.

When Branson visitors think of the College of the Ozarks, most think about the suites and dining offered by the Keeter Center or the campus' Ralph Foster Museum. While the Museum is a inexpensive educational option for visiting families, anyone who has been to the Keeter Center can attest to the exceptional quality of that facility and the Mabee Lodge suites it offers are priced accordingly (ranging from $169 to $299 a night).

What you may not now, however, is that lodging is also available on campus in the Good Center (scroll down past the Mabee Lodge suites). These rooms are more similar to standard hotel rooms, but they still offer the high-quality rustic furniture and decor found in the Keeter Center. The rooms feature two queen beds and are priced at $65 a night for hillside view or $69 a night for lake view. As our first Hotel for under $75, the rooms at the good center offer a great option for visitors wishing to enjoy the hospitality offered by the College of the Ozarks but do not wish to spring for the luxury of a suite.

On a personal note, I decided to feature the Good Center as the first in this series because I think very highly of the college's mission and by staying at the Good (or Keeter) Center you are helping to support the college. Hard Work U, as it is often called, strives to make college education available to regional students through a combination of donations and work on the part of the students. The college generally accepts 300 students a year, 90% of whom are required to have demonstrated financial need. If you go to the Keeter Center, almost all of the employees you encounter will be students earning the cost of their education. Additionally, the College of the Ozarks has the now rare distinction of putting a premium on character education as their mission "is to develop citizens of Christ-like character who are well-educated, hard-working, and patriotic." So, students who are willing to commit to working hard for their education can graduate debt-free, having gained not only intellectual enrichment but also personal enrichment. This is a very admirable contribution made by this unique college and I think we are very fortunate to have it located here in the Ozarks.
