Free Fun in Branson: Sample Some Missouri Grapes (in liquid form)

If you enjoy wine, sparkling grape juice, or just learning more about the history of a notable segment of Missouri's economy then two great options for free fun in Branson are stopping by the Stone Hill or Mt. Pleasant wineries.

The Stone Hill Winery is located at the intersection of Highway 165 and Green Mountain Drive. It offers guests a free tour including a video about the winery's history (the main winery is located in Hermann, Missouri and was founded in 1847) and a demonstration from the on-site bottler (who bears a striking resemblance to Santa Claus) of Spumante wines. Afterward, you are lead to the tasting room where you can sample several of their wines. If you have young ones with you (or simply do not care for alcohol) they also have free samples of their various sparkling juices. There are currently two coupons for Stone Hill available from the Sunny Day Guide.

The Mt. Pleasant winery is located near the intersection of Gretna Blvd. and Green Mountain Drive. While they do not have a tour, they do offer visitors free samples in their beautiful lobby (it was built in 2008 and won the Interior Design of the Year Award from 417 Magazine). If you choose to purchase some wine, you can choose from a wide selection or bottle your own. There is a coupon for a free souvenir wine glass with a $20 purchase in the Best Read Guide.

One last note for those like me who enjoy sparkling grape juices more than wine: I recommend also stopping by Mountain Man's and picking up some Muscadine (White or Red) Grape Juice. It is pricier than the normal Concord sparkling grape juice but it is delicious and worth the investment for special occasions.

Thanks as always for reading!
