Ride the Rails:
Train rides are a great way to enjoy the Fall foliage while experiencing a historic mode of transportation.
The longest train ride offered is offered by the Branson Scenic Railway. Most weekdays, the train runs at 9 AM, 11:30 AM, and 2:00 PM. From October 1-17, they also run a train at 4:30 PM. On Saturdays, they also offer a dinner train at 5:00 PM (although it is considerably more expensive than the normal trains).
Please be advised that the trip is rather expensive and has recieved decidedly mixed reviews. The consensus seems to be that train enthusiasts and kids (who like trains) will enjoy it, but it may be too expensive for others. Another common complaint is that the scenery is mainly composed of trees, but in the Fall this can be something of an advantage.
For those who decide based upon these reviews that the Branson Scenic Railway is not a good option, Silver Dollar City also offers a trip on a steam railway. This ride is included with your price of admission to the park and while it is not as long as the Branson Scenic Railway trip, it is very enjoyable.
If you do decide to ride the Branson Scenic Railway, their depot is located in downtown Branson, close to Branson Landing. So, plan some time before and/or after your train excursion to enjoy walking around downtown Branson and the Landing. The departure times are convenient to meal times as well allowing you to take advantage of one of the many great dining options within walking distance before or after your trip. Of course, even if you aren't riding the rails walking around downtown Branson and the Landing is a great Fall option for all Branson visitors.

Branson is so beautiful in the fall. I love all the colors of the trees and the weather is usually wonderful. I live in Texas, and we don't really have a fall, so I'm excited to get to Branson this year. Happy travels!
